6 large green onions
2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans tomatoes (diced or whole) or 6-8 fresh tomatoes
3 carrots
1 bunch celery
½ to 1 head cabbage
1 package Lipton onion soup mix
1-2 cubes of bouillon (optional)
1 48 oz. can V8 juice (optional)
Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, garlic powder, etc. (If you use bouillon cubes for seasonings, you may not need additional salt as they are loaded with it).
You can also add 1 can sliced mushrooms, or 8 oz. fresh mushrooms and a small amount of cayenne pepper.
Instructions:
Chop the vegetables into small pieces. Cover with about 3 pints water or V-8 juice.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender (20 to 30 min).
Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, or any other non-caloric spice that does not contain additives such as dextrose, MSG, etc.
For variety, you can vary the ingredients each time you make the soup.
7-Day Cabbage Soup Diet Plan:
Day One:
Eat only fruit and cabbage soup eat all of the fruit you want, except bananas.
Eat as much cabbage soup as you like
You can drink unsweetened teas, cranberry juice, and water.
Day Two:
Vegetables: Eat all the fresh, raw or cooked vegetables you want. Eat lots of leafy green vegetables and all the cabbage soup you want.
Avoid dry beans, peas, and corn.
For dinner, have a baked potato with butter.
No fruit allowed today, only vegetables.
Day Three of the cabbage soup diet:
Combine what you ate on days one and two - that means you can eat as many fruits, vegetables and cabbage soup as you like but no baked potato.
Day Four:
This is the day for bananas and skim milk: Eat up to eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets. You could make milkshakes with only bananas and skim milk and a drop of vanilla don't add sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Day Five of the cabbage soup diet:
Eat beef and tomatoes: You may have 10-20 ounces of beef (300-500g) and up to six fresh tomatoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat cabbage soup at least once today.
You may eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef if you remove the skin. You may also substitute broiled fish for the beef for one of the beef days (but not both) if you prefer.
Day Six:
Eat beef and vegetables today. You can even have two or three steaks if you like, accompanied with only fresh vegetables or salad. But NO baked potato. Eat your soup at least once.
Day Seven of the cabbage soup diet:
Eat all you want of brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices, and vegetables. Be sure to eat your soup at least once today. Bread, alcohol, carbonated beverages, or diet soda of any sort are NOT allowed.
This completes the diet. Some people repeat the diet a second week. Do NOT maintain the diet longer than 2 weeks without a break. Only repeat the cabbage soup diet again after resuming a normal diet for 2 to 3 weeks.
