How To Lose Stomach Fat

Losing stomach fat requires a two-pronged approach - good diet and proper exercise. The type of exercise is the key.

There are those that say that you cannot spot reduce. That you can't do anything to cause you to lose more stomach fat than thigh fat.

They say the only way to burn fat is through aerobic exercise, which burns lots of calories; resistance exercise, which builds muscle (muscle is the engine that burns calories and maintains your metabolic rate); and watching your caloric intake.

No argument there, generally speaking. BUT... there IS something you can do to flatten your stomach and improve your chances of losing stomach fat. Here's why..

How Building Your Lower Abs Can Flatten Your Stomach, Reduce Your Stomach Fat And Get Rid Of Your Back Pain Forever!

Why do people develop sagging guts? Because they have weak lower abs and weak backs.

To begin with, the rectus abdominals have to be strong enough to hold the pelvis in the proper "posterior pelvic tilt position." Otherwise, you'll develop an improper lordic curve and suffer from back pain anytime you put stress on the low back.

A pot belly is directly related to low back pain. They often come from the same weak lower rectus abdominal muscles. Doing crunch situps doesn't solve the problem - it only builds up the upper rectus abdominal muscles, not the lower abdominals - the ones that flatten the stomach.

Leg raises aren't the answer either because they agravate low back pain. Leg raises work the hip flexors much more than the lower abs. This will ultimately make you lower gut stick out! It also puts your low back in a vulnerable position for injury.

The key is to get your pelvis tilted back into the correct position by strengthening the lower abs without strengthening the hip flexors.
